Visa on arrival: the Maldives

The Maldives gives a free tourist visa on arrival to every nationality, for up to 30 days. To qualify you need a passport valid for at least one month, a confirmed return ticket, a prepaid confirmed booking at a registered hotel or guesthouse, and enough money for your stay. You also complete the online IMUGA traveller declaration within 96 hours before you arrive. The immigration officer makes the final decision.

Still a visa centre: UK and Japan

The UK Standard Visitor visa is applied for online, then you give fingerprints and a photo at a VFS Global centre in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi or Mirpur. The Japan visa is submitted through VFS Global: the Japan eVISA is not open to residents of Pakistan.

How an online application works

  1. 1
    Check you qualify

Passport validity, purpose of travel and any supporting visa you need.

  2. 2
    Prepare documents

A clear passport scan, a recent photo, bookings and a bank statement if asked.

  3. 3
    Apply and pay

On the official portal only. Your details must match your passport exactly.

  4. 4
    Print and fly

Print the approval. Airlines and border officers ask to see it.

Questions people ask

Which countries can Pakistanis visit without applying in advance?

Of the destinations we checked against official sources, the Maldives gives every nationality a free 30-day visa on arrival if you meet its entry conditions. Rules change often, so we confirm the current position before you book.

Is an eVisa the same as a visa?

Yes. It is a visa issued electronically. You still have to meet the entry conditions, and the border officer makes the final decision.

Which eVisa is the fastest for Pakistanis?

Azerbaijan’s ASAN eVisa: about 3 hours with urgent processing, or 3 working days as standard.

Do I need to print my eVisa?

Yes, carry a printed copy. Thailand, for example, does not accept mobile or digital copies.

Visa rules change often. We confirm the current requirements and fees before you pay. A visa does not guarantee entry.
