Bank statement for a visa: what Pakistanis need to show (2026)

✓ Checked against official sources · October 20263 min read

Your bank statement is often the document that decides a visa. It shows the visa officer that you can pay for the trip and that the money is genuinely yours. Few embassies publish a fixed amount, but they all look for the same things.

What a visa officer looks for

The five things a visa officer checks on your statement.
  1. 1

Your name, account number and the dates covered. The statement must be in your name, unless a sponsor is paying.

  2. 2

Regular income. A monthly salary or business income that matches your employment letter, salary slips or tax returns.

  3. 3

No unexplained large deposits. A big sum arriving just before you apply looks like borrowed money. If it is genuine, explain it with documents.

  4. 4

A closing balance that covers the trip. Enough for flights, hotels and daily spending, with some left over.

  5. 5

The bank’s stamp and signature. Get the statement from your branch, signed and stamped, especially for sticker visas.

How much balance do you need?

Here is what the official sources say for the countries we handle. Where no figure is published, aim for a balance that comfortably covers your whole trip.

CountryWhat the official sources ask for
IndonesiaPersonal statement for the last 3 months with at least US$2,000 or the equivalent
Turkey (eVisa)At least US$50 for each day of your stay
Turkey (sticker visa)Original statement for at least the last 3 months, signed and stamped, plus a bank maintenance certificate
Morocco (embassy)Bank statement for the last 6 months
JapanBank statement for the last 3 months
UKStatements that show where your money comes from; no fixed amount
Thailand, MalaysiaNo fixed amount published; enough to cover your trip

How to get a statement that works

  1. 1
Ask your branch, not the app

Request an official statement for the months the country asks for, stamped and signed on every page.

  2. 2
    Add a maintenance certificate

A bank letter confirming your current balance. Turkey’s sticker visa asks for one, and it helps elsewhere too.

  3. 3
Match it to your job papers

Your salary credits should match your employment letter and salary slips. Business owners: add tax returns or NTN.

  4. 4
    Explain anything unusual

Property sale, gift, bonus? Attach the sale deed, gift letter or bonus letter so the deposit makes sense.

If someone else is paying

If a parent, spouse or relative is paying for your trip, include their bank statement, a short sponsorship letter saying they will cover your costs, and proof of your relationship, such as a Family Registration Certificate (FRC) from NADRA. Your cover letter should say clearly who is paying.

Questions people ask

How many months of bank statement do I need?

It depends on the country: Indonesia and Japan ask for 3 months, Turkey’s sticker visa at least 3 months, and the Moroccan embassy 6 months. We tell you the exact period for your destination.

Can I use a joint account?

Usually yes, if your name is on the account. Add a short note explaining it is a joint account and who the other holder is.

Is an online or app statement acceptable?

For online eVisas a clear PDF statement usually works. For sticker visas, get an original statement from your branch, signed and stamped.

What is a bank maintenance certificate?

A letter from your bank confirming your account and its current balance. Turkey’s sticker visa asks for one alongside the statement.

Visa rules change often. We confirm the current requirements and fees before you pay. A visa does not guarantee entry.
