Travel visas for Pakistani passport holders living in the UK (2026)

✓ Checked against official sources · October 20264 min read

If you live in the UK on a Pakistani passport, your UK residence often matters as much as your passport. It can open eVisas and visa-free trips that are not available from Pakistan, and some countries ask you to apply in the UK rather than at home. Here is what changes.

First: your UK status is now digital

The UK has replaced physical immigration documents with eVisas. Your status lives in your UKVI account, and you can view your eVisa and get a share code to prove it. Before you travel, add your current passport details to your account: you can travel with your eVisa once your passport or travel document details are added.

Japan: apply for the eVISA from the UK

This is the biggest change for UK residents. Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs opens its eVISA to all foreign nationals residing in the UK, so you can apply online instead of going through a visa centre. Residents of Pakistan still apply through VFS Global, as explained on our Japan visa page.

Thailand: apply through the Royal Thai Embassy in London

The Thai embassy in London takes e-Visa applications from people who currently live in the UK, Ireland or UK territories, and you must stay there until a decision is made. As a Pakistani national you add proof of your UK immigration status (such as your eVisa) and proof of employment, or of studies if you are a student. If your bank account is outside the UK, include a bank letter stating the balance in GBP, USD or EUR. Living in Pakistan instead? See our Thailand visa page.

Same rules wherever you live

For Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Malaysia and Kenya the online application depends on your passport, not where you live, so the process from the UK is the same as from Pakistan.

Questions people ask

Can I get a Japan eVISA on a Pakistani passport?

Yes, if you live in the UK. Japan opens its eVISA to all foreign nationals residing in the UK. Residents of Pakistan apply through VFS Global instead.

Can I apply for a Thailand visa from the UK?

Yes. The Royal Thai Embassy in London accepts e-Visa applications from people living in the UK, with proof of UK immigration status and employment or studies. You must stay in the UK until the decision.

Does my UK eVisa count for the Turkey or Morocco eVisa?

Yes. Turkey and Morocco both accept the UK eVisa as your supporting document. We check its validity dates before you apply.

Do I need a share code to travel?

Keep one ready. Your eVisa and share code are how you prove your UK status, and you may be asked for it when you travel.

Visa rules change often. We confirm the current requirements and fees before you pay. A visa does not guarantee entry.
