Tourist visa document checklist
This follows the Embassy of Japan in Pakistan’s list for tourism. Arrange documents in the order of the official checklist and use A4 copies.
- Visa application form, signed, and one photo 45×45 mm with a light background.
- Original passport, plus any old passports.
- Original CNIC with a photocopy.
- Bank statement for the last 6 months, attested, with a letter from your bank manager.
- Proof of your occupation from your organisation.
- Confirmed round-trip flight booking from a travel agent. Do not buy the ticket.
- Schedule of your visit: a day-by-day plan.
- Proof of accommodation in Japan with the full address.
- NOC, if you are a government official.

Can Pakistanis apply for the Japan eVISA?
Not if you live in Pakistan. Residents of Pakistan apply through VFS Global. Pakistanis living in some other countries, such as the UK, can use the eVISA.
How many months of bank statement does Japan want?
The embassy’s tourism checklist asks for the last 6 months, attested, with a letter from your bank manager.
Do I need to buy a flight ticket first?
No. The embassy asks for a confirmed round-trip booking from a travel agent, and says not to buy the ticket.
When can I reapply after a refusal?
After 6 months, with a full set of new documents. The embassy does not give refusal reasons.
